Before you start
Have these to hand and the whole thing takes a few minutes per lot:
- Your sale code and lot numbers — the sale host emails both. The code opens the right sale; the lot numbers are assigned to you and can't be picked yourself.
- Registration numbers for each animal.
- Dates of birth. Required on does and bucks.
- Photos, if you have them. You can add them later.
Your phone works fine for all of this — most consignors enter from the barn.
Your first visit
Open the link the sale host sent. It carries the sale code, so you should land on the right sale name straight away. Choose I'm entering lots for the first time.
Fill in your farm details once — they carry across every lot, and the mailing address is where your check goes, so check it twice.
Pick a PIN you'll remember
At the bottom you'll set an email address and a four-digit PIN. That pair is how you get back in to edit anything. There's no password reset email, so write the PIN down. If you do lose it, the sale host can set you a new one.
Terms and entry fee
At the bottom of the sign-up form you'll see Top Livestock Company's consignment terms and the entry fee for this sale, charged per lot and deducted from your sale check — nothing is paid up front. Tick the box to agree.
Your lot list shows a running total of entry fees as you add lots. If the terms or the fee change after you agreed, you'll be asked to review them again before you can submit.
Adding a lot
Hit Add a lot and work down the form.
- Lot number — exactly as assigned. If it says the number is taken, check the list your host sent.
- Registered name — as it appears on the papers.
- Lot type and classification — tap to choose.
- Date of birth — required for a doe or buck.
- Registration number — required, except on embryo lots.
- Catalog write-up — this is what buyers read. Performance, test results, health status, what makes the animal worth bidding on.
Semen lots where you don't know the buck's birth date
Tick I don't know the exact date and a year box appears. A year alone reads far better in a catalog than nothing. Leave it blank and the catalog says Unknown.
Embryo lots
Embryos aren't born yet, so the date of birth field disappears and the catalog shows TBD. No registration number is needed either.
Photos and video
Save the lot first — photos attach to a saved lot. The upload box then appears at the bottom of that lot. Drag files in, or tap Browse your files to pick from your camera roll.
- Photos are shrunk automatically before upload, so a weak signal in the barn is fine.
- The first photo is the one buyers see first — lead with your best side shot.
- Short video files are fine. For anything long, paste a YouTube or Facebook link instead.
- Tap the × on a photo to remove it.
Coming back to edit
Same link, then I have entries here, then your email and PIN. Everything you entered is waiting. Change anything you like up until the sale's entry deadline — after that the sale goes read-only and you'll need to ask the host.
A lot marked needs finishing is missing something required. Open it and the form will tell you which field.
Submitting
Submit to sale host tells them you're done. It doesn't lock anything — you can still edit afterwards, and you can submit again. It just means they can stop chasing you.
